ZONTA CLUB OF BRADFORD, PENNSYLVANIA

Zonta Club of Bradford Pa District 4, Area 5

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Zonta Club of Bradford Pa! We invite you to enjoy our website as you learn about our club, its accomplishments, its commitment to services that benefit our community, and its affiliation with Zonta International.

The first Zonta Club was founded on Nov. 8, 1919, in Buffalo, N.Y., by Marian DeForest. The nine founding clubs that made up the Confederation of Zonta Clubs were Buffalo, Rochester, Binghamton, Elmira, Syracuse, Erie, Utica, Ithaca, and Detroit. The Confederation became Zonta International with the incorporation of Toronto in 1927. With the support of a neighboring club and a strong starting membership, the Zonta Club of Bradford formed in the 1950s.

Our District 4 is comprised of 33 clubs in a region that includes South-central Ontario, Western New York, and Western Pennsylvania.  The District is divided into six areas, each with an Area Director who is a member of the District Board. Our district service project is assembling birthing kits for third world countries that provide a sanitary place to give birth.

One of our biggest accomplishments is the scholarships that we award each year to high school seniors and a (University of Pittsburgh at Bradford) college student. The club received a bequest from long time member Ruth B. Fisher in 1978 which provided the principle to begin the scholarship.

Meetings

The Zonta Club of  Bradford Pa meets twice a month; the second Wednesday at noon at the Bradford Club and  the fourth Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at announced location.

Zonta Blessing

We thank thee, Father, for this food,

And for Thy gracious, loving care.

Help us to honor Zonta's code,

To be in all things fair and square.

And grant our prayer for lasting peace,

For every nation, everywhere.
